THE INTERVIEW

Nicolò Della Torre

Nicolò Della Torre

Sales Manager

How did 2025 perform and what successes did you celebrate at year-end?

2025 was a key year for Simec’s industrial development and marked a symbolic milestone in the company’s ongoing journey. The acquisition of a new 3,000-square-metre production area at the Olgiate Olona headquarters confirms Simec’s commitment to further strengthening its presence in the world of cylinder manufacturing and in the production of highly technical products.

This expansion is not simply a matter of increased working space, but a tangible sign of a future-oriented industrial strategy: increasing production capacity, improving department organization and supporting an increasingly sophisticated market demand.

Significant investments were also made at the Montefino facility, where structural and technological upgrades were implemented for the management, storage and preservation of anilox products. The objective is to ensure greater operational efficiency, improved handling safety and even more controlled product management throughout all stages of the production process.

During the year, Simec also continued a multi-million-euro investment plan involving several production areas, with the introduction of new technologies, equipment upgrades and department enhancement initiatives. This path is driven not only by capacity requirements, but also by the desire to build up an increasingly integrated, modern and quality-focused production model.

Completing this picture, the company closed 2025 with increased revenues, adding another positive year to a track record of steady growth over the past ten years. This result confirms the soundness of the strategy and Simec’s ability to continue investing, evolving and upgrade the company’s industrial position.

As a result 2025 stands out as a year of consolidation and progress: a milestone reflecting Simec’s determination to look ahead by continuing to create value through concrete investments, technological development and a long-term industrial vision.

THE PRODUCTS

STARLOX Ceramic Anilox Rollers and Sleeves

The STARLOX range is built on Simec’s expertise in the in-house production of ceramic rollers and sleeves for printing, coating and laminating applications. Direct management of the key production stages enables full control of the entire process, from mechanical design and support manufacturing to ceramic coating, laser engraving and final quality control.

The internal construction of the rollers is one of Simec’s key strengths. Each component is manufactured with a focus on dimensional stability, geometric precision, and mechanical reliability—fundamental elements for ensuring consistent machine performance and

reducing the risk of issues related to vibration, concentricity, or premature wear. This expertise also enables the development of custom solutions tailored to the technical specifications of various printing presses and the customer’s production needs.

An equally central role is played by STARLOX ceramic-coated sleeves, designed to offer high structural strength and long-term durability. The quality of the base sleeve is crucial for ensuring stability during printing and for allowing multiple regeneration cycles without compromising the integrity of the substrate. The combination of carefully selected materials, a controlled manufacturing process, and rigorous dimensional checks results in reliable, robust sleeves suitable even for the most demanding flexographic printing applications.

One of the most notable examples of the range’s technological evolution is the STARLOX PLUS engraving, developed to improve anilox performance during printing without necessarily increasing the transfer volume. The cell geometry promotes a more even ink flow, better ink drainage, easier cleaning, and superior production stability. The main advantages include more uniform coverage, reduced sensitivity to process variations, a lower risk of clogging, and greater quality repeatability throughout the print run.

With STARLOX, Simec combines manufacturing expertise, high-quality substrates, and innovative engraving techniques, offering customers not just a technical component, but a solution designed to improve efficiency, reliability, and control of the production process.
