THE INTERVIEW

Davide Guzzetti
Technical Manager
William Boarolo
General Manager
How did 2025 go and what successes did you celebrate at year-end?
For us, 2025 was a year of strong technological and industrial consolidation, marked above all by an achievement that represents a real turning point in our growth path: the implementation of the first system based on HRTTM (Hybrid recovery Technique), our patented high-energy-efficiency process technology, designed to become an international benchmark for solvent recovery processes. The project involved a revamping intervention for a company operating in the flexographic sector, a particularly demanding production environment due to the complexity of emissions management and the need for continuous process operation. The project represented not only a technical validation of the technology, but also a tangible demonstration of its ability to generate immediate value in terms of reduced energy consumption, improved recovery efficiency and enhanced overall plant performance. As a result, we closed the year with a strong sense of industrial maturity: moving from a phase of development and testing to real-world application in complex production environments, with measurable and repeatable results. This achievement strengthened our market position and laid the foundations for further international expansion of the technology.
Which of your technologies are most appreciated by the market?
Primarily two EPC technology solutions that are closely linked but differ in their level of evolution.
The first is a solvent recovery system with inert gas regeneration in its standard configuration, a well-established technology recognized for its reliability, process safety and ability to ensure production continuity even in complex industrial environments. This solution represents the historical foundation of our engineering expertise and continues to be highly valued for its robustness and compliance with environmental regulations.
The second — and increasingly central today — is HRTTM technology, which represents a significant step forward. Its key strength lies in its high level of energy efficiency, achieved through advanced optimization of both recovery processes and equipment performance. This has become a decisive factor in today’s market, increasingly influenced by rising energy costs and the need to ensure not only environmental but also economic sustainability.
Both technologies fully comply with current environmental regulations and increasingly stringent emissions directives, providing customers not only with compliance but also with a competitive advantage in terms of operations and final product performance.
What projects have you launched in 2026, and what new developments can you share?
In 2026, EPC launched and is currently executing several new strategic projects, with an increasing focus on high energy-efficiency systems and increasingly customized solutions for customers, including international markets.
Among the most significant developments is the strengthening of our R&D department and the addition of new technical professionals specializing in energy management and on-site construction management. These additions are aimed at further optimizing both plant performance and project delivery times.
Overall, 2026 marks a year of consolidation and further evolution for our HRT™ technology and solvent recovery solutions.
Regulatory changes and rising costs: how is your company addressing these challenges?
Today’s regulatory and economic environment represents one of the industry’s greatest challenges, and we have chosen to address it through a strategy based on continuous innovation and applied research.
On the one hand, increasingly stringent environmental regulations—particularly regarding BAT (Best Available Techniques) requirements and emission limits—demand highly efficient, state-of-the-art systems. Our technologies are specifically designed to ensure consistent compliance with these standards, providing customers with regulatory confidence and operational continuity, even as legislation continues to evolve.
On the other hand, rising energy prices and raw material costs have transformed solvent recovery from an environmental choice into a strategic economic investment. In this context, our R&D activities are focused on continuously improving recovery processes in order to maximize efficiency while reducing operating costs.
As a result, solvent recovery has become a key pillar of industrial sustainability. It not only reduces emissions but also enhances our customers’ competitiveness by transforming waste into a valuable production resource.
Training and new professionals: how do you support your customers, and what is your approach to talent acquisition?
We are a young company not only in terms of our years in business, but also in terms of our organizational structure, with an average employee age of around 35.
We continuously invest in recruiting and developing young engineers and technical professionals, particularly within our R&D department, with the goal of creating increasingly innovative and tailor-made solutions for our customers.
Most recently, we welcomed two key professionals to our team: an Energy Engineer and a Construction Manager. Their expertise further strengthens our ability to manage new projects while improving two fundamental aspects of our business: energy efficiency and on-site project execution.
What role do industry trade shows play in driving the development of new products and services?
Trade shows play a strategic role in our growth and development.
They are far more than opportunities to showcase our company; they are valuable platforms for listening to the market, where new customer needs, industry challenges, and technological opportunities emerge. The dialogue we establish with customers, partners, and international stakeholders directly contributes to the development of new services and the continuous improvement of our existing solutions, accelerating our innovation process.
For this reason, we make it a priority to participate in the industry’s leading international exhibitions, where we can present our technologies while building relationships with new partners and customers to drive future innovation together.
THE PRODUCTS
Solvent recovery
Solvent recovery systems have become increasingly important in order to comply with emission reduction regulations (Directive 2010/75/EU) and ensure energy efficiency, also becoming an important factor in the circular economy. Our innovative HRTTM Hybrid Recovery Technique combines the advantages of different existing technologies, enabling significant energy savings (more than 40% compared to standard technology systems). It is a low-energy plant solution for solvent recovery units which, while maintaining the adsorption technology unchanged, has revolutionised the regeneration of activated carbon. The innovative process is based on an advanced system of adsorption on activated carbon and desorption using inert gas, with the possibility of heat recovery to optimise energy efficiency. The reduced specific consumption guaranteed by the HRTTM innovation allows for an equally important increase in return on investment, as well as operating costs reduced by approximately 40% compared to standard technology plants.
Distillation
In recent years, our engineers have researched and developed the following solutions:
- solvent distillation plants for treating pharmaceutical industry waste: these special plants can be adapted to all customer requirements, as they are equipped with equipment that pre-treats the mixtures fed into the columns to eliminate residues from the production of medicines (such as lysine salts, sodium chloride and others);
- LPG distillation plants (propane, isobutane and N-butane) for LPG storage and refineries: plants that operate with advanced equipment and technologies that avoid additional risks for the end user when installing new plants. These special technologies make the plant self-sustaining, as R290 propane gas is used in the heating and condensation circuit.
Waste concentration
The concentration process is mainly used in the chemical industry, with the primary purpose of separating an evaporated liquid from a solution of salts, which are dissolved in the same liquid. The most popular applications on the market treat different types of waste, including:
- inorganic acid solutions;
- solvent solutions containing salts;
- organic solutions containing dissolved salts;
- caustic soda solutions.
The disposal of these waste liquids is costly, both due to the nature of the solution and the large quantities to be disposed of. In this sense, the recovery of the aqueous solution is essential: it guarantees the reduction of these costs and the obtaining of waste liquids that can be reused in other fields of application.
But we don’t stop there. EPC integrates intelligent systems for monitoring and automated management of plants, offering customers connected and predictive solutions that improve safety and productivity. Because the future of plants is not only efficient, but also intelligent. We offer cutting-edge technologies for solvent recovery, distillation and concentration of wastewater, operating with maximum efficiency in VOC abatement and LPG refining processes.
Our excellence does not stop at technology: we provide high-level engineering skills, supporting our customers with feasibility studies, targeted consultancy and customized solutions. From preliminary analysis to the supply of the plant, up to maintenance and continuous optimization, we guarantee a complete and customized service.
Thanks to our international experience, EPC brings innovation everywhere, helping companies improve the sustainability, efficiency and safety of their plants. Because our goal is to create extraordinary solutions, anywhere in the world.
