Which technologies are most appreciated by the market?
Today, converters expect productivity, sustainability, and operational simplicity to be combined within a single integrated ecosystem.
Among our next-generation flexographic printing solutions, the OnyxGO platform stands out as one of the most innovative solutions for short-run flexible packaging. The machine is particularly appreciated for its fast job changeovers, high level of automation, and its ability to significantly reduce production waste.
Active Pack also continues to spark interest, our technology package consisting of Active Start, Active Ink, and Active Dry®, is developed to optimize energy consumption, setup times, and material usage. This solution enables customers to achieve tangible savings of up to €100,000 per year in energy and consumables, while also improving the environmental footprint of production processes.
The market also highly values our automation solutions, such as SleeveBOT®, the anthropomorphic robot for automatic printing sleeve changeovers.
Training and new professionals: how do you support your customers and what is your approach to internal recruiting?
Today, the converting industry requires increasingly specialized and multidisciplinary skills. For this reason, we continuously invest in people development and in the dissemination of technical know-how.
We support our customers through dedicated training programs, continuous assistance, and advanced remote support services. With the introduction of GaiaLENS, we have further strengthened this approach: using smart glasses and digital devices, our technicians can assist customers in real time anywhere in the world, reducing intervention times and increasing the efficiency of technical support.
At the same time, we strongly believe in developing internal talent. Our recruitment approach focuses on motivated young professionals, advanced technical skills, and a strong aptitude for innovation and international collaboration. We work with universities, technical institutes, and training organizations to create concrete growth pathways and support the entry of new professionals into the industry.
What role do trade fairs play in accelerating the development of new services and products?
Trade fairs are a key accelerator for the development of new products and services. Many of the innovations introduced in recent years — from automation solutions to digital support systems — originate directly from listening to converters’ needs on a global scale. Alongside traditional trade fairs, customer open houses are also playing an increasingly strategic role. Events such as those recently organized in Brazil with Artvac or in the United States with Poly Craft Industries allow us to showcase Uteco technologies directly on the production floor, creating tangible and highly engaging experiences.
THE PRODUCTS
Among the flagship central-drum flexographic presses, the OnyxGO and OnyxRACE stand out, designed to meet diverse production needs.
The OnyxGO is the ideal solution for short runs: compact, highly automated, and designed to ensure quick job changes, reduced waste, and maximum operational simplicity. It integrates the technologies of the Active Pack system, which optimizes energy consumption and material usage, improving the overall efficiency of the production process.
For medium and long runs, the OnyxRACE represents the evolution of high-performance flexography. It is a high-speed machine, capable of up to 600 m/min, designed to combine productivity, sustainability, and advanced automation with maximum robustness.
In addition to printing solutions, Uteco also offers coating and laminating systems, such as the PrismaCL range, designed to provide maximum application flexibility and consistent quality in both solventless and solvent-based lamination processes.
