THE INTERVIEW

Stefano Mercante
Marketing and communication Manager
How did 2025 go, and what successes did you celebrate at the end of the year?
2025 was a year marked by high market volatility and unpredictable dynamics. Despite the challenges and significant reductions, we wouldn’t call it a bad year. We leveraged international trade shows such as Labelexpo Europe, K, and Print4All, as well as periods of contraction, to strengthen existing customer relationships, initiate new strategic business dialogues, and build a solid foundation for the future.
Which of your technologies are most appreciated by the market?
Given our history and the market position we’ve built over the years, all technologies related to tension control, pneumatic brakes, load cells, and controllers continue to be particularly valued across all major sectors of converting, printing, and packaging. It’s a recognition we’re very proud of, because it means we have a solid foundation on which to continue innovating.
At the same time, thanks to investments in technological development, we are seeing significant growth in web guiding systems, which has allowed us to establish relationships with international players we had never been able to collaborate with before. This is a positive sign of expansion into new market segments.
Finally, our ReVision NET vision system, launched two years ago, is receiving extremely encouraging feedback and is establishing itself as a strategic product line for the future.
What projects did you launch in 2026, and what new developments can you share?
For us, 2026 was the year we launched the new TT-25 tension controller. This is a very important milestone, as it builds on the legacy and “retires” a historic product like the T-One, which has been with our company and a market leader for over 25 years.
Building on the reliability and robustness that made the T-One a benchmark in the industry, with the TT-25 we have added advanced technology and introduced new features, greater connectivity, and an even simpler and more intuitive interface. The goal is to offer customers a modern, high-performance tool ready for the demands of the most advanced production lines, continuing the T-One’s successful legacy. At the same time, over the past few months we have been working on a very important and technologically complex project, which we hope to be able to present in the second half of 2026 or, at the latest, in early 2027. For now, we prefer not to disclose any details, but it will certainly be a significant development for our company.
Regulations and price increases: how is your company addressing these two challenges?
In recent years, the market has faced a series of unprecedented challenges, including geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions, increasing regulatory requirements, and widespread cost inflation. Throughout this period, we have consistently worked to absorb as much of these cost increases as possible by optimizing our production processes and refining certain aspects of product design to minimize the impact on our customers.
In most cases, we have successfully maintained our market positioning without passing price increases on to our customers. Only when absolutely unavoidable have we introduced very limited price adjustments.
We recognize that this is not an easy path, but the ability to respond quickly and effectively to changing market conditions has always been one of our company’s key strengths.
What role do trade shows play in driving the development of new products and services?
The trade show landscape has changed significantly over the past few years, particularly in Europe, where attendance figures and overall market trends have declined compared to the past. Despite this, trade fairs remain a key strategic element for our company.
They provide invaluable opportunities to meet customers and partners, build new business relationships, exchange ideas with the market, and gain deeper insights into technological developments across the industry. At the same time, they enable us to gather direct feedback, identify emerging trends, and better understand the strategies of leading international players as well as our competitors.
In a highly technical industry like ours, we believe that face-to-face interaction and personal discussions continue to offer a unique value that cannot be replaced.
THE PRODUCTS
Re’s offer is divided into eight product families, designed and manufactured in-house to preserve the ‘Made in Italy’ quality that is fundamental to the company. Flagship components include pneumatic brakes and tension controllers – areas in which the company is a world leader – load cells, web guiding systems, web viewing systems, expandable shafts, mechanical chucks and roll pushers. These tools optimise the processing of paper, cardboard, aluminium, plastic film and other materials, increasing plant efficiency and productivity.
Our products ensure smooth material feed, reducing errors and avoiding downtime. Precise tension control and constant alignment eliminate waste and defects. Moreover, with control cameras, printing problems are detected in real time, allowing immediate action.
The ability to customise solutions according to customer requirements is one of the company’s main strengths. This versatility translates into tailor-made variants for complex processes, from special finishing to the most advanced ennobling processes.
For fifty years, Re S.p.A. has been combining quality and innovation, offering technical expertise and dedicated service. Choosing Re means relying on a unique partner, ready to support machine manufacturers and users towards an increasingly efficient, competitive and future-oriented production.
