THE INTERVIEW

Stefano Mercante
Marketing and communication Manager
In a market context such as the current one, what were the main challenges you faced in 2024 and what were the most important objectives achieved?
The main problem has been, and still is, the economic and political uncertainty that reverberates in a market shaken by high peaks and major declines, resulting in difficulties in planning and stress on structures. In addition, competition from China and the Far East is rampant throughout the world. In this context, we have focused on ourselves by improving our products, processes and customer relations. This has allowed us to maintain our market and, in some contexts, expand it and sow the seeds for the future.
What product lines are you working on that you intend to promote as a priority over the next year?
In recent years, we have been focusing more and more on the evolution of our more technological products with a high presence of electronics, such as print control systems and web guiding systems for positioning material during the process. Electronics is travelling fast, and keeping up with the pace to design more and more high-performance components is our goal.
What services or activities have you planned for 2025 to engage and gain customer loyalty?
For our type of product, trade fairs are still very important and remain the main tool for making contact with as many customers (or potential customers) as possible in one place and time frame. In addition, the digital and social communication strategy remains a very important tool for communicating with the market on an ongoing basis.
Criticality=opportunity: what are the critical issues that you have found (or that your customers have shared with you) on which you have built valuable solutions for the sector?
We have noticed that service and listening to the customer’s problems or needs, from the first contact to after-sales, is a plus that more and more realities are looking for and consider indispensable. Over the years we have tried to constantly improve our processes in order to guarantee the best service, and not just the best product, to the customer.
Another critical point that we have turned into strength is flexibility and product customisation. Going beyond the standard and being flexible to meet the specific needs of each manufacturer is a peculiarity of ours that we have built with experience and that has allowed us to conquer important slices of the market.
THE PRODUCTS
Re’s offer is divided into eight product families, designed and manufactured in-house to preserve the ‘Made in Italy’ quality that is fundamental to the company. Flagship components include pneumatic brakes and tension controllers – areas in which the company is a world leader – load cells, web guiding systems, web viewing systems, expandable shafts, mechanical chucks and roll pushers. These tools optimise the processing of paper, cardboard, aluminium, plastic film and other materials, increasing plant efficiency and productivity.
Our products ensure smooth material feed, reducing errors and avoiding downtime. Precise tension control and constant alignment eliminate waste and defects. Moreover, with control cameras, printing problems are detected in real time, allowing immediate action.
The ability to customise solutions according to customer requirements is one of the company’s main strengths. This versatility translates into tailor-made variants for complex processes, from special finishing to the most advanced ennobling processes.
For fifty years, Re S.p.A. has been combining quality and innovation, offering technical expertise and dedicated service. Choosing Re means relying on a unique partner, ready to support machine manufacturers and users towards an increasingly efficient, competitive and future-oriented production.
