THE INTERVIEW

Gianluca Cheli

Gianluca Cheli

Project and development manager

In a market context such as the current one, what were the main challenges you faced in 2024 and what were the most important objectives achieved?

Azul5, our flagship product, has undergone an adaptation to more easily accommodate the different new customers from other management systems. Of course it was not an exclusive commitment, in fact at the same time we began to prepare the ground for the future Azul6 version.

What product lines are you working on that you intend to promote as a priority over the next year?

We will continue on our development path responding to the needs of customers, who keep up to date on the products and on new production technologies. So far, this method has allowed us to remain aligned with market demands, as well as to meet the new needs that ariose along the way for our customers, such as installing in Italy or Europe Industry 4.0 machinery from scratch, rather than customising particular internal procedures or responding to extreme requests from auditors of certifying bodies.

What services or activities have you planned for 2025 to engage and gain customer loyalty?

To be honest, we will not do anything different from what we always do: as I already mentioned, it is our practice to follow the customer in the after-sales as well, assisting them in their normal daily routine, which can always be facilitated if not even improved, and to respond to the needs that arise in the development of the company’s business.

2024 was the drupa year. Have you found that this event had a positive impact on new investments?

The current economic outlook has meant that it was not so much the drupa event (welcome back!) to drive investment, but rather state and/ or regional benefits. As has already been amply demonstrated, what at first glance may appear to be mere welfare, is actually a useful driving force for the local and consequently national economy, considering that the effects of an investment cascade across the entire production chain.

THE PRODUCTS

The fifth generation of the “Azul” management system (ERP) is aimed at all graphic printing companies (flat, offset and digital, large and small format, label, paper), allowing for the management of all types of production with a single program, from postcard to tome, from label to banner, from exhibitor to magazine, from case to box.

The areas governed are those of production: quotes, customer orders, contracts, production times, final results, warehouse, management of suppliers, customers (profitability) and agents (turnover). The statistics cover all business areas, including data collected via Industry 4.0 links.

Two specific options allow for a quick definition of quotes for labels and paper manufacturing plants and, just as quickly, put them into production, managing the archives of cutting dies, screen frames and plates.

Connection with production is enforced by department terminals, which allow you to record operations, times, clicks (revolutions, cycles, frames, etc.), and directly download the material. This, of course, allows for real-time monitoring of the production department, even from outside the company.

Connected to the data collection in the production department is also the entire chapter of the Industry 4.0 connection, which flows directly into the final balance of the order, while executing warehouse unloading. At the same time, the traceability of materials can be easily managed, and can be extended to all the materials used (including inks, glues, paints, etc.), for more demanding certifications such as food certifications.

To simplify the lives of its customers, Azul Sistemi has chosen not to be linked to a specific administrative management system, preferring to dialogue each time with the one already present in the different facilities. This allows to reduce the time of instruction and data entry to implement the system, thus also achieving a reduction in costs.
