On November 27th, in the prestigious setting of the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese, near Milan, the Oro della Stampa Award will once again celebrate Italian excellence in the graphic arts and converting industries. It will be more than just an award ceremony, but a true laboratory of ideas and strategies, where the converting sector will be given unprecedented prominence.

What’s new at the Print Economic Forum

The gala evening will be preceded by the Print Economic Forum, an event reserved for the Club delle Eccellenze, which welcomes winners of previous editions, sponsors, and the specialized press. During the Forum, data compiled by Stratego Group’s Centre of Printing Studies will provide an updated overview of the sector’s economic performance. For the first time, alongside the results of the “Bigs in Print,” the “Bigs in Converting” will also be presented, with the aim of providing operators with a clear picture of the performance of the industry’s leading companies and future competitive scenarios.

The data will be presented by Stefano Portolani, Senior Analyst at Centre of Printing Studies. Both the sessions on graphic arts and converting will be followed by a roundtable discussion, moderated by Sky TG24 journalist Irene Elisei, in which two leading industry figures will begin by commenting on the data and move on to a broader discussion that will include industrial strategies, technological innovation, and entrepreneurial stories.

The Bigs of Converting

The Centre of Printing Studies snapshot of the converting market is based on an analysis of a panel of the 600 leading Italian converters, all companies that reported a turnover of more than €3 million in 2023.

Overall, these companies employ over 46,000 people, with per capita personnel costs stable at around €49.7 thousand. The panel reports a total turnover of €17.8 billion, generating a “consolidated profit” of approximately €1 billion.

An analysis of the economic evolution over the last six years shows steady growth in revenues and profits: from €10.8 billion in 2018 to €17.8 billion in 2023. At the same time, total production value rose from €11.2 billion in 2018 to €18.4 billion in 2023, while operating profit increased from €530 million to over €1.5 billion over the same period.

The impact of converting on the market

Converting today is a true competitive driver. The ability to integrate sustainability, aesthetics, and functionality into transformation processes makes this sector crucial for brands investing in next-generation packaging and labels. Italy, thanks to its consolidated technological expertise in the production of rotogravure and flexographic printing machines, continues to be an international benchmark, with exports fueling much of the sector’s value.

Converting is positioned as the segment capable of ensuring resilience and growth, offering high value-added solutions and responding to growing regulatory and environmental pressures.

The 2025 Oro della Stampa Award will therefore be a unique opportunity not only to celebrate the most deserving companies, but above all to highlight how converting is redefining the sector’s identity, becoming the meeting point between technological innovation, sustainability, and industrial competitiveness.

The winners of Oro Converter award

On November 27th, the entire converting community will gather to celebrate innovation and discover who will join the Club delle Eccellenze as the new winner of Oro Converter award. Who will join previous winners as Fiorini International, Gerosa Group, Goglio, Gruppo Pro-Gest, Gualapack, ICO, Masterpack, Nuova Erreplast, Poplast and Sacchital Group, among the companies that have made converting history? The wait for Oro della Stampa has begun.
