Smartcolormatch and Inkmaker introduce the new SmartColorMaker system supplied and co-developed by Cellografica Gerosa of Inverigo (CO).
In collaboration with Inkmaker, based in Sangillio (TO), has developed a brand new and innovative system, the SmartColorMaker, complete with a small scale Color Matching feature, for printing, formulation, mixing and automatic dispensing, with to the hundredth of a gram accuracy, of ink formulas. The prototype has been industrially validated and has been in operation at the Cellografica Gerosa plant in Inverigo (CO) since 2024 with great satisfaction and has recorded, in just six months since its deployment, considerable reductions in start-up waste and spot colour adjustment times on rotogravures, with positive effects on investment recovery times.
Customer benefits
- Drastic reduction of waste and spot colour adjustment times
- Lower than 2.5 DE00 guaranteed on rotogravure machines
- Positive effects on investment recovery times
What it is
It is a complete miniaturized and customizable system for printing, formulating, mixing and dispensing ink formulass, capable of guaranteeing a DE00 of less than 2.5 between the desired target spot color and its counterpart printed on the first sheet on the rotogravure machine, allowing a steady speed start.
What’s included
- A miniaturized Rotolab Smartcolormatch® manual rotogravure printing machine (7 kg)
- Two miniature Smartcolormatch® rotogravure printing tools for both external and internal printing
- Two Smartcolormatch® colour charts printed on white and transparent PP with Sunchemical inks with 70-cylinder 0-angle lines.
- An annual use license for the Mycolor Smartcolormatch® DBCMS colour search software
- A license for Inkmaker’s IMaestro software
- An automatic dispensing system for ethyl acetate based inks, model XPT/S by Inkmaker
- Technical support for the positioning of the system

- On-site Smartcolormatch ® specialist consultancy for obtaining a lower than 2.5 DE00 on Rotogravure machines compared to the desired target spot colour
- Smartcolormatch ® helpline support included for the first six months after delivery.
How it works
The operating principle shown in the picture provides that printing must not be initiated unless you have obtained a DE00 of less than 1.5 from the SmartColorMaker system in order to guarantee 2.5 on the roto.
