Nearly a decade after Netpack SpA bought a FLEXCEL NX System of Miraclon, Graphics Manager Gian Luca Zangheri says the in-house flexo platemaking system still proves to have been a sound investment.
Since 2016, they’ve produced over 26,000 m² of plates, averaging 1,500 new sets annually, with 100% of jobs now running on FLEXCEL NX plates. He emphasized: “Although it was the plate and print quality it delivers that impressed us initially, it is the consistency and efficiency it brings on-press that proves the real benefit. Built-in tools simplify linearization, and repeatability is excellent; even after months, we get identical results”.
He adds that Miraclon’s multi-surface patterning is a gamechanger: “Printing speeds are faster, ink laydown and coverage are better, and minimal dot gain gives higher definition in halftones, fine text and detailed graphics. And, because ink transfer is more uniform on solids, it’s much easier to reach the required density”. Netpack also replaced fluorescent lamps with Miraclon’s Shine LED Lamp Kit to solve exposure issues, which improves uniformity, reduces energy consumption, shortens exposure times, and ensures longer lamp life.
Plates are now more consistent in floor thickness and exposure, making the linearization process more reliable. Zangheri says quality control has become simpler and more efficient, freeing up the prepress team to focus on higher-value tasks and helping the business move forward with confidence.
