Taghleef Industries (Ti), a global biaxially oriented polypropylene film (BoPP) producer based in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), announced that it has closed the transaction to acquire Derprosa Film, a leading Spanish supplier of flexible BoPP films for the food packaging, labels and graphic arts applications. In recent years, Derprosa has developed and patented a unique portfolio of films for the luxury packaging market.

With this buy-up Taghleef intend to penetrate new markets and diversify its product offering, and will increase its annual global BoPP film production capacity to approximately 400,000 tons. Derprosa Film will be incorporated with Ti Europe consisting of 4 production sites: Italy, Spain, Hungary and Egypt.

And the award? It is called Inspirational Packaging Awards (IPA), is sponsored by Derprosa and takes place during the Packaging Innovations event, organized by easyFairs Iberia in Madrid (5-6th November 2014). The international competition aims to promote innovation and excellence in packaging and in-store communication, and is aimed at brand companies, designers and manufacturers of packaging around the world, who launched new products during 2013 and 201 .
Nominations must be submitted by September 30th and winners will be announced at the awards ceremony which will take place November 5th during Packaging Innovations Madrid.

Sixteen the categories in the competition, divided into macro-Drink, Food, Perfume-cosmetics-fashion, household products, POS, Eco-innovation and “Miscellaneous” to accommodate applicants that do not come under the above definitions, as well as the Special IPA Derprosa Prize. For each category, prizes will be awarded for the best innovation in mode of use, label, branding and design.
