In the vast universe of printing, few areas evolve with the speed and complexity of label production. Technology, aesthetics, sustainability, quality control: all of it converges on a few square centimetres of paper or plastic film. In this issue, Converting Magazine shines the spotlight on one of the most delicate and strategic aspects of this sector: colour reproduction.
We do this building on data. The exclusive survey we conducted involving printers and suppliers shows a multifaceted picture, comprised of good practices, still underused tools and a strong desire for training. Alongside the numbers, the voices of operators: we interviewed companies that produce labels for e-commerce, a channel where colour consistency is a synonym for brand reliability. Colour, as these contributions demonstrate, is much more than a technical parameter: it is a commercial language.
As a counterpoint, our reports from the great international events that marked the first part of the year: Print4All, once again reaffirming the importance of an Italian trade fair in the world of printing, and China Print, a showcase of the country’s industrial transformation and a test bed for technology manufacturers’ global strategies.
With an eye on the forthcoming season, we then offer you the first previews of LabelExpo Europe, a reference event for the self-adhesive label sector, at which Converting Magazine will also be distributed. Smart labels, materials sustainability, colour control automation: these are just some of the themes that will garner the interest of visitors, and that we also delve into on our pages.
We close with some news that make us particularly proud: the section dedicated to the companies taking part in the Converting Connection network, an editorial and relational project that is intended to create concrete value for businesses in the supply chain. In this issue we will hear the voices of those who invest, innovate, share experiences: because the growth of the whole sector begins here, within a community capable of sharing and networking.
