After months of crossed negotiations, the final confirmation has arrived: Bobst will acquire the assets and the property of Cerutti of Casale Monferrato – to be precise, the two branches of business known as Officine Meccaniche Giovanni Cerutti S.p.A. and Cerutti Packaging Equipment S.p.A.., both in bankruptcy since October 2020.

During the auction held last June 30, Bobst won the first round against the group Seconda Rinascita, which, however, raised its bid ten days later. The Swiss multinational in turn raised its offer to seven million euros, a figure that was not exceeded, thus decreeing Bobst’s victory.

The industrial project that guided Bobst in the acquisition is, as reported by the economic newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, to relaunch the Italian brand “with models designed specifically to meet the needs of certain markets, such as those in Asia, an area in which the former Cerutti had exited by selling its patents to Chinese and Indian competitors”.

Davide Garavaglia, Managing Director of Bobst Italia S.p.a. for the San Giorgio facility and head of the Group’s Gravure, Laminating, Coating and Vacuum product lines, expressed satisfaction with the agreements reached. Garavaglia recalled that “Bobst Italia is a company with more than 440 Italian employees, most of whom live in Casale Monferrato and surrounding municipalities, and occupies a leading position in the industry worldwide”.
