90% of corrugated cardboard packaging produced today is automatically folded and glued on “flexo folder” machines.

The real challenge is achieving a high level of precision in the creasing and folding of boxes on these systems. The PerfectFold Robatech “liquid creasing” system takes the folding of corrugated cardboard to unprecedented levels of precision and speed. The process involves the application of a special liquid that “weakens” the cardboard’s fibre along the creasing lines. Rapidly penetrating inside the cardboard, it reduces its rigidity, while leaving no visible traces.

The “softened” creasing lines can then be more precisely tracked during the folding phase with minimal contrast, largely resolving inconveniences such as breakage, variability of light at the gluing line and flap misalignment (“fishtailing”).

Corrugated cardboard boxes processed with PerfectFold ensure precise internal dimensions, allowing inserts to be put in place inside folding cartons without problems. In addition, the effort required to set up the creasing and folding tools is reduced. It is also possible to reduce the creasing’s depth, eliminating the risk of cracking through to the outer lining. In this way, the entire cardboard folding process acquires greater stability.

PerfectFold is easy to use and install: it consists of a power supply unit, two Sempre 30 jetting heads, the AS 50 pattern control and an external operating unit, equipped with a touch panel.

The pump and buffer tank in the supply unit allow uninterrupted operation when replacing the liquid containers. An I/P converter ensures that the correct amount of liquid is applied to the folding lines despite possible variations in production speed. Another important highlight is that SpeedUp creasing liquid leaves no visible trace on the board and is now available, in 25 litre canisters and 1000 litre IBC containers, directly from Robatech branches in Europe and Turkey.
